NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Nissan today announced the appointment of Jay Cooney as vice president, Regional Communications, Nissan Americas, effective March 30.
Cooney succeeds Brian Brockman, who is moving into a leadership role within Nissan's global communications organization.
A communications leader with more than two decades of automotive and corporate experience, Cooney brings deep industry expertise, cross‑regional leadership, and a strong record of driving communications strategies that support transformation in highly competitive markets. His background aligns directly with Nissan's priority to reinforce the momentum supporting the company's overall business performance, strengthen its voice, and elevate reputation across the Americas.
Most recently, Cooney served as chief communications and marketing officer at Enviri, where he led the company's global communications and brand strategy. He previously held senior communications leadership roles at PepsiCo, Ford, General Motors, and DaimlerChrysler, gaining broad international experience across corporate, financial, brand, and crisis communications.
"Jay is a leader who brings clarity, discipline, and momentum to a communications function," said Christian Meunier, chairman, Nissan Americas. "Strategic thinking and effective communications are essential to the transformation underway at Nissan, and his judgment and experience will help us continue to move with greater focus and impact across the region. We welcome him to our leadership team."
Cooney holds a juris doctor from the University of Arizona, a master of science in broadcast journalism from Northwestern University, and a bachelor of arts from Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario.
